Self-Confidence
Self-Confidence entails trusting your judgement and capabilities. It is about valuing who you are and having a high self-worth. You don’t care about what others feel of you when your confidence is shining bright.
When you have good self-confidence, you carry yourself differently. You acknowledge that you are human, and nobody is perfect.
Body language is quite telling of someone’s confidence. Someone who is not confident in themselves may appear closed off and make themselves small. On the other hand, someone who is more confident may have nice posture and take up more physical space.
You can build confidence by creating positive habits, reflecting on past accomplishments, and setting goals that will boost your confidence.
Self-Esteem
Self-Esteem is about our ability to manage what is going on in our life. It is about knowing that we have the right to be happy. This type of feeling can come from when people “like” us and we get a sense of approval.
You can build self-esteem by using positive affirmations. This can provide an opportunity to speak that positivity into existence.
Sometimes our esteem is down. We don’t feel like anybody likes us. Receiving criticism and rejection can put you into a negative space. It can make you feel like you aren’t enough.
To help enhance your self-esteem you can try being mindful and put a positive spin on things. It is best to avoid comparison. Remember you are your own person, it is okay to be different. You are a rock star!
While both self-confidence and self-esteem are similar, they play different roles in how we believe and carry ourselves in the world. There will be days when we are not “feeling it”. Just remember to keep going.
